I wasn't THAT into Spock's Beard at the time, but I was anxious to go to a concert. Plus I was supposed to meet my now good friend Nick for the first time, as well Dave Rubin - so that was enough incentive.

A bunch of local bands (I guess) opened. They weren't very good. I met Dave Rubin in between one of these sets - he's a nice guy, and he had brought some of his homebrewed "Spock's Beer" which he gave to the band after the show. Still couldn't find Nick... My dad and I ended up skipping a couple local bands and just getting a bite until SB finally came on at about 11. Just before hand, I did meet Nick, almost by accident, and moved up towards the front of the stage (Jaxx is tiny anyway though).

And what a fantastic show! I must say, I was really blown away - they have such great musicality, and did some really amazing and impressive things. This was probably one of the best shows I've seen.

I got to meet the band afterwards and get some autographs, but I couldn't think of anything to say or ask. It was mostly "hi, good show... can you sign this?"

This was, indeed, one of the best concerts to which I have ever been. As Eric said, I met him and David Rubin there for the first time in person (I still can't believe we met on the Internet). He was supposed to be wearing a Yes shirt, I think, and he said he had long hair. I don't remember how I described myself, but I didn't really have any distinguishing characteristics at the time. The problem, however, was that I didn't really know anything by Yes at that point in my life, and certainly wouldn't recognize any album art. In my mind I guess, I pictured a black shirt with bright red lettering reading "YES!" across the front. This was, of course, not the case. After searching for awhile, I gave up and figured I'd look for him again in half an hour or so. As I was ascending the staircase to the bar/restaurant area, I came face to face with a long-haired kid wearing some kinda crazy artsy T-shirt. I didn't see "Yes" anywhere on it, but I figured this must be him. There was an awkward "Uh...are you Eric?" moment, but we soon got it all sorted out.

You told me you had an white-man afro or something like that, and throughout the opening bands I saw this goofy looking guy with that hair style on the other side of the room... I never did go up and say hi to that guy thankfully because he was of course not you. So then after the last set before SB I went down into the pit and you and Penelope were coming up and there you have it.
